Support for Individuals
At your first appointment, I’ll take you through a comprehensive mental health and addiction assessment. These assessments take a minimum of 1.5 hours and the information you share guides your treatment planning and implementation. Some clients arrive to their first session with the question “Is my drinking (or drug use) OK?”. This assessment helps provide an answer to that question and is the starting point for the “where to from here” conversation. The “where to” for you may involve reducing or stopping use. That decision is yours and I will work with you to incorporate your goals and work at your pace. I assure you that you will be seen promptly, and at a time that suits your schedule. Support for Families I can support your family as you work to change. Your partner/family are welcome to attend and be included in your appointments and treatment planning. This is at your discretion. If your partner/family members are struggling with your past and current behaviour I can offer them their own appointments. This is “their time” to discuss their concerns and issues, and is completely confidential. Examples of what previous family members have been interested in discussing include addiction education, communication and assertiveness skills (so they can set boundaries to support your recovery) and looking at how to maintain healthy relationships. I offer reduced appointment fees for family as I understand the importance of these sessions. Please make contact with me to discuss further. Support for your Business and Staff I am an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider with Instep Limited. Instep are a national behavioural healthcare company that delivers high quality support programmes while embracing the values of your organisation. Not involved with an EAP provider? Talking Change can support your business directly by developing and implementing an individualised support plan for your staff member. This plan, in collaboration with your staff, will provide a path forward including managing their health issues whilst they are either working or planning to return to work. Support for Employers Are you concerned about a team member? Perhaps you have you noticed they’re not their usual self or taking a lot of sick leave lately. Want to support them but not sure how? I’m experienced in developing and implementing individualised Support Plans to manage a range of issues including: mental health, addiction, workplace stress or conflict, and ‘home life/personal issues’. Support Plans can range from longer term support of a staff member as they reintegrate back into the workplace following a period of leave, through to brief interventions targeting specific issues. Appointments are an hour long and can be scheduled to suit your workplace’s hours of business. Support for Your Employees/Team members I offer employees a safe environment to begin addressing the issues that are impacting on their ability to do their job. Employees can negotiate with their employer to pay for/or contribute towards the cost of their appointment and time off to attend appointments. I can support employees in negotiating with there Employer to get the help they need. Talking Change can form a productive relationship with your Employer, however the content of appointments remains strictly confidential and no information will be disclosed to an employer without prior consent. Ministry of Justice Legal Aid assessments/court reports I am experienced in providing comprehensive mental health and addiction assessments which include recommendations to the Court. Depending on the circumstances, assessments can be completed via Audio Visual Link (AVL), site visits to Manawatu Prison or at office space in Palmerston North city. Please make contact with me and request my Terms of Engagement. |
