HOW I CAN HELP

Alcohol and Other Drug
Use Support

Assessment and Counselling

I offer support to anyone seeking help managing alcohol and
other drug-related issues, including:
  • You, as an individual
  • Your family, and
  • Companies.

Support for Individuals

At your first appointment, I will take you through a comprehensive assessment.  These assessments take a minimum of 1.5 hours and the information you share guides your treatment planning and implementation.

Some people arrive to their first appointment with the question “Is my drinking (or drug use) OK?”. This assessment helps provide an answer to that question and is the starting point for the “where to from here” conversation. The “where to” for you may involve reducing or stopping use. That decision is yours and I will work with you to incorporate your goals and work at your pace. Your partner/family are welcome to attend and be included in your appointments and treatment planning.

I understand that once you have made the decision to reach out for help, it is important to be seen promptly. I endeavour to see all new referrals within a week.

Support for Families

I can support your family as you work to change.
If your partner/family members are struggling with your past and current behaviour, I can offer them their own appointment/s. This is “their time” to discuss their concerns and issues and is completely confidential.

Examples of what previous family members have been interested in discussing include addiction education, communication and assertiveness skills (so they can set boundaries to support your recovery), and looking at how to maintain healthy relationships

Support for Companies

I am an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider.
Not involved with an EAP provider?  I am experienced in developing and implementing individualised EAP’s to support a range of issues including mental health, addiction, workplace stress and/or conflict, and home life/personal issues.

EAP can range from brief interventions targeting specific issues, through to longer-term support of a staff member as they reintegrate back into the workplace following a period of leave.  I offer employees a safe environment to begin addressing the issues that are impacting on their ability to do their job.
